Richard graduated from the University of Otago in 2007 with a Master of Planning, having studied in both Dunedin and Stockholm. Beginning his career with Auckland City Council in 2008 in the Hauraki Gulf Islands team, he has worked in a number of resource consents, policy and leadership roles with Auckland Council and the private and public sector in Queenstown and Wānaka. Richard has a strong interest in landscape planning, open spaces, urban intensification and placemaking. His particular areas of expertise relate to urban and rural subdivision and development, commercial recreation, temporary events, heritage conservation and all aspects of the resource consents process.
