Overview

B&A are currently preparing a spatial plan for Ōamaru and the surrounding towns of Weston and Kakanui, to assist in guiding growth and development over the next 30 years, responding to national policy direction, and informing an upcoming district plan review. This work has involved detailed spatial analysis of a range of publicly available held datasets from a range of organisations, including Waitaki District Council, Otago Regional Council, MfE, NIWA, Stats NZ and local infrastructure providers. Additional work has included opportunities and constraints mapping, to inform and test various spatial scenarios to accommodate growth in the area. B&A also completed extensive iwi, stakeholder and councillor engagement, including a series of workshops to assist with the preparation and testing of the spatial vision and guiding principles, as well as key spatial moves and actions. Part of the scope of works was to ensure the Spatial Plan responds and gives effect to current and proposed national direction.
